Overview

The title of this short book is taken from the encyclical Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth), issued by Pope Saint John XXIII on Holy Thursday, April 11, 1963. In it he said, 'Every believer in this world of ours must be a spark of light'. In 2007 after attending a prayer group and a number of conferences I the author was touched by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) and experienced a new impetus in his faith. However, heeding the advice in St Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians: 'test all things' (1 Th 5:21) he embarked on a search to discover whether CCR was merely the impulse of man seeking a more emotional and lively religious experience or a genuine outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This book is the result of that quest.

Author Information

Christopher Moore (1957- ) was educated by the Jesuits at St Michael's College in Leeds, went camping with Salesians of Don Bosco and now serves as MC to a Benedictine Parish in rural Herefordshire. To say his philosophy and outlook on life are a tad scrambled is an understatement! After leaving school he started work as a trainee manager with the Halifax but left there for adventure in the RAF. Sadly their careers' office was closed but the local police station was open, so he spent the next 30 years leaping from one emergency to another. His experiences include investigating shrinking & disappearing pigs whilst on the Fraud Squad; dodging flying televisions during the riots in Toxteth, Liverpool and herding cows off a main road through an open gate in the pitch black of the night in Heartbeat country only to discover later that this was someone's front garden! Taking retirement seemed like a golden opportunity for Chris to settle down to what he really wanted to do, write books and take photographs. So, after talking about it for years, he finally published his first eBook in September 2014 and, if anyone does buy it, he's even tempted to try a paperback version. Meanwhile, Chris lives with his wife and has three children, four cats and a rabbit. He enjoys wandering along the river photographing anything that stays still long enough, reading several books at once on his Kindle and on paper and writing some serious stuff on his blog.
