OverviewAs the grip of Franco's dictatorship weakened, philosophy of science established itself in many universities around Spain. What ensued was a very interesting experiment in the development of ideas. Unlike other countries where philosophy of science grew as part of a tradition, in Spain many approaches to the discipline were transplanted all at once and had to compete against each other. The early technical papers on analytic philosophy or German structuralism eventually gave way to the blending of styles and the appearance of original, serious work as Spanish philosophy of science matured. This text should make that work accessible to graduate and advanced undergraduate students, as well as to professionals, of philosophy, science studies, or Spanish culture. Several of the essays employ meticulous historical research to inform philosophical thought. Others examine the cutting edge of American philosophy or reformulate important European work. Still others rescue Spanish tradition itself and use it to guide their thinking about science and technology.
