An artist, writer, and filmmaker, he is a fellow of the New York Institute of the Humanities and a past visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab's Center for Bits and Atoms. In addition to Space Odyssey he has written such books as Cosmigraphics: Picturing Space Through Time, a finalist for the Science and Technology award at the 2015 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Benson's planetary landscape photography exhibitions have been shown internationally. He has contributed to many publications, including the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, Smithsonian, and Rolling Stone. Todd McLaren, an Earphones Award-winning narrator, was involved in radio for more than twenty years in cities on both coasts, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
