OverviewWritten from the perspective of 2040, 15 years after Irish re-unification, this is a memoir by a young English journalist who ends up falling in love with an Irishwoman, Ireland, its people, and its politics. It gives a personal account of how a Border Poll was called, why it was carried, and what happened afterwards. It traces the development of a unified Irish state over a 15 year transition period and looks at how it all turned out, from a variety of points of view in Ireland and Britain. The Good Friday Agreement is silent on what happens after a border poll is carried. This book attempts to fill that gap in an informative, challenging, engaging, and amusing way. It does not assume anything is ""inevitable"" but rather the consequence of the good and bad actions of the various actors involved. Indeed, it is a homage to what good politics can achieve. PLEASE NOTE: This book is often listed as ""unavailable"" on Amazon.co.uk for prospective Irish customers, according to Amazon due to Brexit related export/import complications. It should always be available on Amazon.com, Amazon.de, Amazon.es, or another European Marketplace. Let us hope there will soon be an Amazon.ie, or even an Amazon.eu!
