OverviewThis book covers different aspects of Adult Learning and Education in the Mediterranean. It provides an analytic overview of provision in ‘North’ Mediterranean (including ‘East’ Mediterranean) and ‘South’ Mediterranean and adopts a Critical Education/Pedagogy Perspective predicated on Gramscian and Freirean lenses. In addition, the book provides in depth chapters on ALE in Palestine (two chapters), in Italy, Portugal and Spain and also on Migration. It concludes with an inter-ethic vision for ALE for a society, not as it is, but as it can be: A genuinely inclusive multi-ethnic society where Conflict and Difference are faced in a spirit of democratic renewal and not antagonism. ALE has a part to play here.
