Overview

The 1960s was a tumultuous period in this country's history by any measure, with the civil rights movement taking center stage. The social and political unrest that defined this era provided a turbulent backdrop for a burgeoning friendship between two families: one black - the Sims, and one white - the Davids. Their compelling story unfolds via heartfelt correspondence and acts of genuine kindness untainted by prejudice. The ensuing publicity would cast a much-needed spotlight on discrimination, but also call into question their motives and deeds. Despite this, the Sims and Davids forged a fellowship, through benevolence and strength of faith, that served as a beacon of hope for all who would strive for racial harmony.

Reviews

""An outstanding and captivating read as told through actual historic letters between two amazing families (one white, one black) during a time of racial unrest in the 1960s. The author fills in the blanks with his amazing storytelling prose. Couldn't put it down."" Carol

Author Information

Eric Christianson and Joyce Davids had a whirlwind courtship, tying the knot a mere 84 days after their initial blind date. Throughout their 44 year marriage, they learned to lean on each other, as one's weakness was the other's strength, all the while perfecting the arts of compromise and collaboration. Because of her childhood experiences, telling this tale was always Joyce's passion, but when failing health robbed her of the opportunity to complete the journey, Eric stepped up and finished the task. Though neither were previously published authors, both felt that this was a story so incredible...so inspirational, it simply had to be told.
