Overview

These Sound-Saws provide new readers with practise in learning new sounds and blending them to make words, using the sounds learned in Series 1, 2 and 3 of Sounds make Words make Stories. They are particularly good for readers who require more practise at blending, as they provide learners with the opportunity to tackle words on their own, without the worry of sentence structure or high-frequency sight words. This allows the reader to completely focus on sounding out and blending. These Sound-Saws should be used in conjunction with the self-reader books in Series 3, both at the entry and plus levels. This series is also complemented with the read-aloud story books 'Cowboy Hats', 'The Bored King' and 'Alien Adventures'. This is a structured, phonics based reading program, that introduces sound groups in a systematic and uncluttered way. It builds confidence and capability in your new reader, by only focusing on new sounds together with those already learned. This program has had success with young readers, stubborn readers, readers with learning difficulties and readers with English as a second language. It has been proven to be an excellent educational tool within schools as well as for home learning.
