Overview

Can reducing plastic waste really make a difference? At first, fourth-grader Sophie only has two puzzles to solve: how to make friends at her new school and how to come up with a class presentation topic while in Florida on a work trip with her dad. But Sophie and her adorable dog, Vinci, stumble upon a larger problem: plastic pollution in the ocean and its threat to sea life. Follow her as she discovers the connections between sea turtles, plastic waste, art, and activism.

Jamie Jones works and teaches in the mental health field in Washington, DC. She lives with her husband, teenage daughter, and shichon dog (a mix between a shih tzu and bichon) named Snuggles Glitter. She loves the beach and tries to go with her husband and daughter whenever she can. Snuggles also loves the beach but eats the sand, so, unlike Vinci, she must stay home. Jamie is hopeful that with awareness, we can reduce the amount of plastic in the ocean.
