"""Sophia and Alex Play at Home"" is one of eleven volumes in the ""Sophia and Alex"" series, written by Author Denise Bourgeois-Vance and illustrated by Artist Damon Danielson. The storyline takes the reader to the home of our fraternal twins, Sophia and Alex. It opens with the children playing at home on a Saturday morning. Friends they met in school are invited over for a playdate. Each child learns the rules and preferred behavior as they interact with one another for a fun day at home. By the end of the day, Sophia and Alex are found enjoying family time with their parents and siblings. The 32-page illustrated book shows the children engaged in fun activities, sharing, interacting, pretending, and playing throughout the day. Children learn social and communitive skills while engaging in casual interaction with friends and family. Each book in the ""Sophia and Alex"" series draws on storylines based on common events found in the life of an early learner. Children relate to the multi-cultural characters and learn the art of acceptance and inclusion in school and home settings. Author Denise Bourgeois-Vance is a bilingual immigrant to the United States. She holds a degree in Social Science from Washington State University and has worked as a preschool teacher and Family Support Specialist. She is a mother and grandmother, currently living in Washington State with her husband. Artist Damon Danielson is a gifted children's book illustrator with over 20 years of art and illustration experience. He has worked with preschool and elementary-aged children, developing artwork, curriculum, and activities. Damon and his family live in the greater Atlanta, GA area, where they own and operate a graphic arts company.
