""Sophia and Alex Go on a Field Trip"" is one of eleven volumes in the ""Sophia and Alex"" series, written by author Denise Bourgeois-Vance and illustrated by artist Damon Danielson. Sophia, Alex and all their school friends are excited to go to the zoo on a field trip with their teacher and parents. They love seeing all the animals they've only seen in books and TV. The diversity of the zoo makes the children assess their own unique circumstances and how wonderful it is to live in a world made up of so many different animals and people. Author Denise Bourgeois-Vance is a bilingual immigrant to the United States. She holds a degree in Social Science from Washington State University and has worked as a preschool teacher and Family Support Specialist. She is a mother and grandmother, currently living in Washington State with her husband and daughter. Artist Damon Danielson is a gifted children's book illustrator with over 20 years of art and illustration experience. He has worked with preschool and elementary-aged children, developing artwork, curriculum, and activities. Damon and his family live in the greater Atlanta, GA area, where they own and operate a graphic arts company.
