OverviewAfter finding success with The Guess Who, Randy Bachman left at the height of the group's popularity in July of 1970. He cited health issues. Chad Allan, former member of the The Guess Who and joined Bachman from 1970-1972. He left in 1972 and the three Bachman brothers with Fred Turner at the bass became Bachman Turner Overdrive. Two radio stations on the American-Canadian border in Buffalo and Detroit kept playing B.T.O. helping them grow in popularity in the U.S. The band signed with Mercury Records after being rejected by 25 other record companies. They played as an opening act in 1972-1973 and in 1974 became a headliner band with hits such as ""Taking Care of Business,"" ""Blue Collar,"" ""Let It Ride,"" ""Roll Down the Highway,"" ""Hey You,"" and ""Down the Line."" ""You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"" sold over 1 million copies. The band began a national tour in 1975 and also toured Europe and Japan. B.T.O. was named band of the year in 1974 winning Juno Awards in 1974, 1975, and 1976. Passion, determination and focus have been qualities that have remained consistent with B.T.O. Randy Bachman is legendary as a guitarist, songwriter and performer. He accrued over 120 platinum, gold and silver albums and single awards. His distinctive no hold barred rock has sold 40 million albums. Their dedicated fanbase are called ""gearheads"" and they band was inducted into the Canadian Rock Hall of Fame in 2014.
