For many people, high school is an unusual time in their lives. Between the stresses of trying to get to graduation to trying to figure out what you want to do afterwards to just hoping that special someone will finally ask you to go to the dance, it can get a bit rough at times. In those moments, there's a lot of emotion to be shared. But if your friends are the type of people to gossip in the hallways and the authority figures in your life don't always listen or understand, it can be a bit hard to be open with your feelings. So how do you express those thoughts? How do you work through your emotions at a moment when you many not fully understand what they are? Songbirds & Sonnets is a charity anthology of 23 poems written by 8 authors during those formative high school years when both their writing and their emotions were raw.
