OverviewThough St. Thérèse of Lisieux lived a short, hidden life in a Carmelite monastery in a small town in France, she predicted that after her death the whole world would love her and promised to send a shower of roses, spending her Heaven doing good upon earth until the end of time. True to her word, the Little Flower has favored countless souls with her friendship, and her name and image can be found in every corner of the earth. Pope St. Pius X called her ""the greatest Saint of modern times,"" and the nine popes following him have all endorsed her Little Way of Spiritual Childhood. She is the Patroness of the missions alongside St. Francis Xavier, Patroness of France with St. Joan of Arc, and in 1997, Pope St. John Paul II named her the 33rd Doctor of the Church. And yet after 120 years of this young nun's universal acclaim, author Suzie Andres has found something brand new to say about St. Thérèse. Taking a little known petition from Thérèse's Act of Oblation to Merciful Love, the author reveals a Eucharistic miracle that the Little Flower not only lived, but promoted among those close to her. This book begins with an explanation of St. Thérèse's Eucharistic miracle, and goes on to find evidence of this miracle in the lives of other great Saints, from Margaret Mary to Padre Pio. The author then uses Thérèse's own arguments to prove that this particular grace, as well as the Act of Oblation to Merciful Love, is meant for all little souls. Something New with St. Thérèse is an invitation to readers to take further steps along the Little Way and into the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. At first I thought, 'There is no way I would ask God for such a miraculous grace. I am most unworthy . . .' But then Suzie points out that this is exactly the condition Thrse says is necessary for making the Act of Oblation to Merciful Love. - Sister Natalie, Maronite Servant of Christ the Light When I read Therese's petition, I think of the confidence of the early Church Fathers as they prayed. They dared to speak of salvation as deification and divinization. Thrse is no less daring, because she is childlike. This is a beautiful book. - Mike Aquilina, author of The Fathers of the Church and The Eucharist Foretold Suzie has written a very fine and original book! She understands St. Thrse very well, her theology is solid, and she offers us 'something new' and refreshing. I smiled all the way through it. - Father Donald Kinney, O.C.D., translator, The Poetry of St. Thrse of Lisieux This book sparkles. - D.Q. McInerny, Author, Being Logical: A Guide to Good Think Author InformationSuzie Andres is a Catholic wife and mother living and writing in sunny Southern California. She and her husband Tony have been Discalced Carmelite Seculars drawing sustenance from the charism and doctrine of St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and St. Thérèse of Lisieux for over twenty years. The fruits of this feasting are available in Suzie's previous books: Homeschooling with Gentleness and A Little Way of Homeschooling (the latter of which features essays by a dozen other Catholic wives and mothers); The Paradise Project (a novel taking its inspiration from Pride and Prejudice, but set as a romantic comedy in a modern day Catholic milieu); and Selected Sermons of Thomas Aquinas McGovern, S.J., a work she edited in collaboration with the late founding president of Thomas Aquinas College, Dr. Ronald P. McArthur. Having earned degrees at Thomas Aquinas College and the University of Notre Dame, Suzie finds her most effective education at the school of the two Little Flowers, St. Thérèse and her spiritual little brother, Servant of God Marcel Van. The three of them can be found online at Miss Marcel's Musings (suzieandres.com/blog). Also recently available from Suzie under the imprint Little Way Books is the devotional Stations of the Cross with Our Sister St. Thérèse . Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
