OverviewThe summer of 1983 is over. After weeks of healing from their first adventure and some specialized basic training with Mr. Rakow, Angie, Jenny and David are feeling prepared for the horrors junior high will surely bring. The final weekend of vacation, a bizarre tornado tears through Lincoln, upending gravestones and depositing supernatural debris on the school grounds. The gang has their hands full with the demands of starting junior high on top of trying to figure out an otherworldly mystery, and their friendship begins to feel the strain. But the malevolent ghost haunting the school is ramping up its attacks on students, and the kids are going to have to get it together in time to save the school. Something Haunted is the second of seven stories drawn from Angie's diaries. Kept safely hidden for decades, they tell how the kids spent their teenage years - working with their mentor, Mr. Rakow, and Jenny's mom, Lorraine, who dabbles in witchcraft, to uncover their power and battle the forces of darkness that menace their hometown. Table of ContentsReviewsSomething Haunted wastes no time drawing the reader into the world of goblins, ghosts, and witches initially conjured to life in Something Wicked, Sarah Dale's first novel in the series. Though the book is thoroughly entertaining as a standalone story, it does a wonderful job taking us deeper into the lives of Jenny, Angie, and David as they learn what it means to be a Zodiac Cusp Kid. This is another win for Sarah! Can't wait for the next one to come out! Something Haunted is another great tale of the Zodiac Cusp Kids, and in this book we get a more-detailed look at what that means. Taking her cues from Nebraska history, Dale revs up a high-octane story of ghosts, witches, and junior high school. I liked not only the magical/supernatural aspects of it but the details about junior high and all the angst that can go along with it. I look forward to reading more of the Zodiac Cusp Kids ASAP! This is a wonderful fast-paced story. Reminds me a little of Bradbury. Can't wait for the next one from Sarah Dale! The book intrigued me when the author was nominated Best Indie Author of 2018 awards on my author blog, and the author was nice enough to share the story with me for a review. Dale writes a wonderful sequel to Something Wicked with Something Haunted. It's another paranormal and supernatural adventure for Angie, David and Jenny. Here comes another mystery and it may interfere with their lives and relationships with each other. I like the way Dale tells a story and it keeps the reader guessing. The reader can get to know not just Angie, but the others as well, and it builds a liking to the characters. Well put together, and I will continue to read whatever happens next in these stories in the A Tale of the Zodiac Cusp Kids series.
