OverviewThe behaviour of materials and structures under load is a very important subject for any student of engineering. Of particular concern is the way in which the bodies react to applied forces. Such forces normally result in deflections/deformations while stresses and strains are set up in the body. In order to design structures that will resist failure, engineers must be familiar with the fundamental principles and concepts regarding materials and structures. The fundamentals were established in the introductory volume, Solving Problems in Solid and Structural Mechanics (VOLUME1).This second volume extends the scope of material covered into more complex areas. The format adopted in the first volume is retained i.e. each chapter begins with a summary of the relevant formulae/equations followed by several worked examples. At the end of each chapter are exercises with answers. This gives the learner an opportunity for plenty of practice, especially after each topic has been covered in class, and just before the examination period. It's therefore a text book to be used as a tutorial book.
