Overview

3D CAD, or three dimensional computer aided design, is a design and development technology that replaces manual drawing with an automated process. This process creates objects in three dimensions. 3D modeling involves creating and saving geometric objects in three dimensional form. On the one hand, this allows for a realistic representation and better spatial perception of the body, while on the other hand, the three dimensional representations such as crosssectional and elevation views can be automated. This book is aimed at beginners who want or need to take their first steps with the new Solid Edge. Program steps, customizations, and command functions are presented in detail and supported by explanatory image sequences. The content is based on SOLIDWORKS Design 2026, but is largely versionneutral. The second chapter covers the basic installation, the complex program customization, and the required additional application installations. The third chapter provides an introduction to the application of various representation techniques based on a ready made template. Readership: Engineering students, graduates of master craftsman, technical, and technical colleges, trainees such as technical product designers and industrial mechanics, as well as teachers in the CAD field, continuing education, and retraining. Chapter four to nine demonstrate the various solutions for creating components using the customized SOLIDWORKS Design 2026 commands.
