Author Information

Inspired by her grandson, Alaric, during a memorable summer adventure, author Kathy Johansen brings warmth and heart to her fictional stories. She has been a dedicated school teacher for more than 20 years at Cherrydale Primary School in Steilacoom, Washington. Kathy and her husband Roger, also owned and operated The Sock Peddlers, a knitting store in Lakewood, Washington. Illustrator and artist Katie Howard, a former second- grade student of Kathy's, lends her artistic talents to bring this story to life. Katie is based in the Pacific Northwest and works primarily in oil paint, watercolor, and yarn.
