Her dissertation examined the relationship between sociopaths and their reactions to anxiety. This research became the groundwork for her continued studies on sociopathic disorder, as well as the foundation for her memoir. When she is not working with patients or running after her small children, Patric volunteers as a grief counselor specializing in violent crime.
