OverviewWe present a study on the socio-environmental representations of technical administrative staff (STA) at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). Qualitative in nature, it was based on Social Representation Theory (SRT) as a theoretical framework and Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) as a methodology for data analysis. Its objectives were to reveal and understand the vision, meanings, values, and concepts that underpin the ways of knowing/doing in the relationships between staff and the work environment, regarding environmental issues that arise during their work practices. The central issues that permeated the investigative universe of this study revolve around the notions of belonging to the institution and sustainability of public servants in their daily practices. Knowledge of the representations that influence the core activities of UFPel allows for the establishment of parameters and articulations between those activities and daily practices. In this way, it provides opportunities for more effective strategies and actions within the ongoing process of Environmental Management at the institution.
