He has field experience in both law enforcement and corrections, and teaches criminology, law, and statistics at Boise State University, Idaho. He is the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of 26 books and over 100 journal articles. His primary interest is in the integration of the biological and social sciences in the development of a truly scientific criminology. Among his most recent books are: Biosocial Criminology: New Directions in Theory and Research (with Kevin Beaver); Biology and Criminology: The Biosocial Synthesis; and Research Methods in Criminal Justice (with Lee Ellis & Richard Hartley).
