Because of these early endeavors, The Decade of the Brain was introduced to the nation by 1990. New brain research, state and nationwide helmet laws, lowered speed limits, child safety restraint laws, enforced mandatory seat belt and new air bag laws came into being. Thousands -- and now millions - genuinely made a momentous difference. This is how it began. Many head injury victims are affected in a similar way - time and again through vehicle accidents, near drownings, extreme sports injuries, and other disastrous means.
