OverviewBorn and raised in Kenya's Central region during the period of the British Colonial rule, Virginia Muiruri had to go through a difficult period in her childhood. Her parents were among the freedom fighters incarcerated in colonial jails after a state of emergency was declared in 1952 at the height of the Mau Mau war. She has shared the suffering she had to undergo, jointly with her two sisters in the absence of their parents. How they survived the entire emergency period is what makes the book interesting. After pulling through the numerous hardships, Virginia still managed to enroll in school. Though circumstances did allow her to go far with her education, she still went against odds to seek for greener pastures outside the country. She has lived and worked in both the United Kingdom and the United States of America. A seasoned gospel artist, Virginia is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Home Health Aide (HHA). Her dedication to caring for others is evident not only in her music but also in her hands-on-approach to healthcare. With a commitment to making a positive impact on individuals' lives, she has brought comfort and care to countless patients during her time in the healthcare industry.
