Miranda Bowers grew up in a household that encouraged the children to learn all that they could. The family also had strong traditions and passed down heirlooms and words of wisdom among other things from one generation to the next. One of the traditions was the art of soap making. This was something that Miranda's grandmother Elizabeth loved to do and though it was a hobby, she ended up making enough soap for the entire family. Miranda carried the basics skills of soap making into her adult life and found that it came in rather handy when she had to cut down on what she spent. In fact, she even got her friends involved. This also inspired her to write a book on the basics of soap making for those who had an interest in learning how to do so.
