So the Light Stays explores the emotions and experiences that make life unique and meaningful. These poems express the range of feelings and moments we experience as we grow into womanhood, from the highs of self-love, empowerment, and growth, to the lows of fractured family bonds, chronic pain, loss, and grief. This collection explores the duality of a life well-lived versus the loss and grief that we naturally experience along the way.

Writing personal poetry requires, first, a personality and, second, a personality that deepens into character. In too much of the lyric poetry being produced these days, the first is ill-defined, and the second is entirely absent. Danielle Blinka is a poet, writer, podcaster, artist, and performer. Her poetry has appeared in Pulse Magazine and has been featured in Houston's Words + Art. She's also written for wikiHow, Rare Houston, the Boomtown Film & Music Festival, and several blogs. In addition to poetry, she's completed a young adult novel. Danielle earned a BA in English, a BA in Political Science, an MA in English, and an MPA. She currently lives in Houston, TX.
