Overview

"Japan's sole monkey - the Japanese macaque - lives both in subtropical lowlands and in sub alpine regions. The animals living in the Japanese Alps, where snow blankets the ground for most of the winter, are affectionately called snow monkeys and have become a great tourist attraction. Here, macaques enjoy warming up in a natural hot pool. In this enchanting book, Heather Angel unravels how these monkeys live in troops: showing them in different seasons bathing and drinking in the hot pool, grooming, feeding, youngsters playing with snowballs and heart-warming shots of newborns with their mothers. ""Wildlife Monographs"", is a series of fabulous, full-colour books led by stunning photographic images with fresh, informative and vivid new text charting our favourite wild animals on their home terrain. With bright, easy to read and compelling text that successfully combines fascinating information with accessibility, these are books to give as gifts, to treasure and to share across every age from eight to eighty. Here's a glimpse of some of the world's increasingly rare and endangered species, captured on camera in their natural habitats. If we aren't careful, they may not be there for much longer, and each volume is also a plea for protection, backed by leading campaigners."

Heather Angel, is a British award-winning wildlife photographer who constantly traverses the globe in search of pictures. Her passion for nature, fostered by holidays on her grandparents? Suffolk farm, culminated in a zoology degree at Bristol University.
