OverviewBarbara's autobiography as a career nurse witnessing the dramatic social changes of a new nation, New Zealand. Like many New Zealand stories, Barbara's begins with the immigration of her family. Her grandparents, a young couple in 1912, left London with their two daughters and made the arduous sea voyage to New Zealand by steam ship. Her mother grew-up and married a local boy and together they began a family of their own. Barbara, their second child, was born on Mother's Day. A vibrant child, her early life was filled with the usual antics of a care free childhood maturing in post war New Zealand. At 16 years she finally realised her passion for nursing, leaving home to work at the private Wakefield Hospital. As a Junior Nurse Aid at the bottom of rung she was resigned to the very basics of life in the fast lane. Barbara has been a nurse for over 50 years, and remains a part-time practice nurse in her 60s. Her aim is to continue to write stories and is planning a future book about the antics of her 3 adult children and four grandchildren Full Product DetailsAuthor: Barbara RiddellPublisher: First Edition Ltd Imprint: Second Edition Dimensions: Width: 21.00cm , Height: 1.00cm , Length: 14.80cm Weight: 0.237kg ISBN: 9781877561474ISBN 10: 1877561479 Pages: 192 Publication Date: 06 April 2010 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers.
