Overview

From Animal Observations to Dental Innovations: Kenyan Kids Learn Dental Care, Inspire Community Clinic! Smiles Across the Savannah is a delightful and educational journey set in a small Kenyan town, Aitong. The story follows siblings Leon, Samato, and Jody, who are fascinated by the methods their favorite animals use to maintain their dental health. They watch in awe as oxpeckers meticulously clean a giraffe's teeth, barbell fish act as dentists for hippos, and lions chew on sticks for oral care. Their observations spark an interest in dental care, leading them to become advocates for oral hygiene in their community. The children's excitement is palpable when an annual pop-up dental clinic visits their town, bringing Jim and JoJo Hardwick and this year's dental team. The kids enthusiastically learn about brushing and dental maintenance, realizing the importance of clean teeth for overall health, just like their favorite animals. Their learning journey takes a momentous turn when the Hardwick's make a surprise announcement, which could forever change the children's lives and health of their community. The plan to build a permanent dental clinic, called Empaso Dental Clinic, promises a healthier future the community surrounding Aitong. The school, the town and the village buzz with anticipation, looking forward to a time when dental care will be readily accessible to all. Smiles Across the Savannah is an inspiring tale that emphasizes the importance of dental care and community health while beautifully depicting Kenyan life and wildlife. This book is not just a story, but an initiative towards spreading smiles across the savannah, one person at a time. It's a tale that will have children captivated, understanding the importance of dental hygiene in a fun and engaging way. Whether you are young or old, this story holds a lesson for everyone. So come join Leon, Samato, and Jody on their adventure and let their smiles light up your world!
