He then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the same institution, until 2011, when he moved as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow to the Institute of Automation and Information Systems at the Technical University of Munich. In 2013, he became a professor at the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he is currently employed. He is the associate editor of the IEEE/ASME Trans Mechatronics, IEEE Trans. Automation Science and Engineering, and ISA Transactions.
