Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJohan Oberholster started his career in 1988 as a Small Stock Research Technician in Government Service Namibia. He first did a National Diploma in Agriculture, and then B.Tech degree in Animal Production at the Pretoria Technicon. During these 19 years he worked in various positions on four government Research Stations. He gained extnsive experience in practical farming and farm management since he worked in management positions on all of these farms. He worked with large stock, small stock (namely Dorper, Damara and Karakul sheep, and Boergoat stud), Crop Science and dairy environments. Duties includes, amongst other things, grazing management, maintenance of infra- structure, record keeping, artificial insemination, disease and predator control, drawing up and control over small stock budget and personnel management within the section. He spent the past 14 years on Neudamm Agricultural College in Namibia. The past 10 years he acted as small-stock ring official or judging animals at the Windhoek Show. He is also involved in practical training of students from University of Namibia, the Polytechnic of Namibia, the training of extension technicians in small stock management at Katima Mulilo, Ongwediva, Opuwo and Rundu, those employed in the Namibia Northern Communal Areas, as well as pupils from Windhoek Technical High School.
