OverviewThis book is devoted to a comprehensive study of axially symmetric microwave emitters. The main focus is on describing advanced experimental methods and tools for studying the spatial structure of near electromagnetic fields in the inductive and intermediate radiation zones. This approach allows for a detailed analysis of the dynamics of wave beam transformation during the formation of the emitter's directional patterns. This is particularly relevant when studying small-sized emitters, i.e., in the most complex case in terms of the contribution of diffraction phenomena to the characteristics of receiving and transmitting antennas, when the sizes of the objects under study become comparable to the working wavelength. Based on the results of numerical modeling, effective probe antennas, original monopole, dielectric disc, and combined radiators, as well as complex-profile horn radiators as elements of a densely packed phased antenna array, have been proposed and implemented in practice. The book is intended for specialists in the field of electrodynamics, experimental radiophysics, physics, and antenna technology.
