#SleeveLife: Losing Half of Myself and Finding the Rest

Overview

Weight loss and transformation take time, inspiration and stubborn determination. Jonathan Dichter transformed his life after undergoing weight loss surgery, and now he wants to be part of your journey to becoming the best possible version of yourself! Join Jonathan as he starts at 400 pounds and sheds the excess weight and the baggage that was weighing him down as a result. When Jonathan went to see his primary care doctor in December of 2015, he was sure she was ready to give up and tell him to go home and die. His physical health was so bad that walking through a grocery store gave him trouble. Jonathan committed to doing anything and everything his doctor told him, which brought him to gastric sleeve surgery. #SleeveLife is a personal recount of one man's path to physical and emotional health, complete with stumbles and celebrations along the way. If you're considering weight loss surgery, a weight loss program, or any major life change, you can find something in Jonathan's story to inspire, move and entertain you. Jonathan walks the reader through all the stages of his decision to have weight loss surgery, from the choice of surgeon through the surgery and recovery, slowly rebuilding his life. Jonathan will give you tips and tricks on how to make sure you are always moving forward towards your weight loss goals (or any other goals for that matter) - and encourage you every step of the way to join him on a journey to positivity, and the best version of you possible. He'll discuss fears, anxieties, dating, eating, half marathons, Disney, clothing shopping, kids, gas, and more - in a frank and honest conversation written in a friendly and accessible tone. Jonathan wants nothing more than for you to feel like you're sitting with him at his table chatting about this experience and getting ready for your own. #SleeveLife is a labor of love and a never ending story of continued change for its author and, at its heart, a motivational tool for its readers as well.

Reviews

I read Jonathan's book #Sleevelife a little over a year after my own weight loss surgery. I couldn't help but wish that it had been in my hands before my own decision to have the gastric sleeve. Jonathan's honesty about the struggles coming to his decision to have surgery were similar to my own and would've offered the assurance I needed. This book is a great reminder that we aren't alone and offers the motivation needed to take the next step. â JENNIFER, WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY PATIENT #Sleevelife is like sitting down with a warm cup of protein coffee and a close friend. Jonathan shares his story in a completely real, transparent, and vulnerable way that I completely resonate with as a fellow sleever six years post-surgery. All of the emotions, the anxiety, the changes, the adjustments....he leaves nothing out. Jonathan's book would prepare someone considering weight loss surgery better than any surgeon or counselor ever could. I'd prescribe reading it before having surgery, and then re-reading it probably once a month (or as needed) after surgery! You can't help but relate and feel like you've got a friend along for the journey, inspiring you every step of the way. â ROBIN, WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY PATIENT Jonathan does a wonderful job sharing his journey leading up to weight loss surgery and subsequently the successes and challenges that came after. His honest and lighthearted tone makes it feel as though a good friend is sitting next to you telling their story. He makes the intimidating idea of weight loss surgery approachable and grounded through no-holds barred sharing of his personal experience. A recommended read for inspiration for those considering #SleeveLife. â DR. JOHN STEVENS, FAMILY PHYSICIAN I LOVED the book. While I was reading it, I caught myself wishing when I was starting this process that I would have had access to a book like this to hear, first hand, about another person's experience, as well as have someone to relate to with my lifelong struggle with weight. â APRIL, WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY PATIENT #SleeveLife, by Jonathan Dichter, is a candid story of this young mans journey on the weight loss rollercoaster. I found the book captivating from beginning to end. I could feel his emotions and struggles through his words, as if they were my own. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with weight loss, and/or considering weight loss surgery. â SHARI, WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY PATIENT
