Skirts & Pants on Fire! And everything else went up in flames.

Overview

In 2020, Working Wardrobes had empowered over 105,000 people to overcome barriers and step into the workforce with confidence. Then came the devastating four-alarm fire. What happens when everything you've built goes up in flames? If you're Jerri Rosen, you rebuild-with more courage, more compassion, more community, and more success than ever before. Skirts & Pants on Fire! is a behind-the-seams look at Working Wardrobes: a nonprofit stitched together by thousands of volunteers, staff, and supporters. It's more than a memoir. It's a movement. It's a love letter to everyone who turned devastation into dignity.

Author Information

Jerri Lee Rosen devoted her life to service, leadership, and community transformation. In 1990, she launched her own ad agency and, alongside five friends, responded to the growing crisis of domestic violence with a single event-the first-ever ""Day of Self Esteem,"" serving 67 women from six shelters. That moment sparked the creation of Working Wardrobes.Under Jerri's visionary leadership, the organization blossomed into a nationally recognized nonprofit, helping thousands of men, women, veterans, and young adults overcome barriers and enter the workforce with confidence. Her unwavering commitment earned honors from civic leaders and government officials across the country. In the midst of preparing for Working Wardrobes' 30-year anniversary, a four-alarm fire reduced everything to ashes. Not a suit, a shoe, a computer, or even a tie remained. But the Orange County community rallied behind Jerri, offering financial support, donations, and encouragement. Within five months-and during a global pandemic-Jerri rebuilt the organization stronger than ever.
