Diamond immigrated to Canada in 1964, where he became involved in the Toronto's architectural reform movement. In 1975, Diamond established his own firm and was joined, in 1989, by Donald Schmitt. Together, Diamond and Schmitt formed one of the most celebrated architectural partnerships in Toronto. Diamond's career encompasses a wide variety of aspects of planning and architecture. His pioneering work in the city of Toronto includes the use of infill, the recycling of historic buildings and the creation of low-rise alternatives to high-rise development.
