Skate-aid: Hope on four wheels as a source of identity

Overview

Since I was 10 years old, my skateboard has been a constant companion in my life. Once I started, I couldn't escape the excitement that this sport has to offer. Skateboarding has had a lasting influence on my personality and behaviour. Over time, especially during my studies, I have often asked myself what makes skateboarding so special. When I became aware of the Titus Dittmann Foundation in 2010, I saw an opportunity to explore this question in a scientific context. This thesis deals with the Titus Dittmann Foundation, which operates worldwide under the name ""skate-aid"" to provide child and youth welfare services in the field of development cooperation in crisis areas and social hotspots. It uses the meaningful and identity-forming power of skateboarding to support children and young people in their personality and identity development.
