This book is the personal story of Bernie Pearl, considered the ""Godfather of the Blues"" in Los Angeles. During his life in Los Angeles, Bernie served the Blues as a radio host, Blues festival artistic director and master of ceremonies, musician and producer. In this biography, Bernie describes his experiences working in these various roles to promote the Blues in Los Angeles. His anecdotes provide insight into the personal side of the Blues musicians involved in his story. Additionally, his story is punctuated by mini-biographies of many national and some local Blues artists described in his biographical segments. Some of these biographies are of important local musicians appearing for the first time in print. All mini-biographies also provide insights into the personal side of the musicians. Extensive photographs and other historical documents are provided, many of which have never been previously published.
