Overview

This is a story about woman called Simone, who, in light of a newly emerging conflict in Ukraine, is sent to monitor financial affairs of a certain individual, Dimitri, related to Russian money in London. Against her own sober will, she gets romantically involved with the main target and compromises her position, which leads to a chain of events that uncover unexpected links between her bosses, her target and her family. She transpires to be a major part of organization that emerged in 1980s to fight against a widely spread human trafficking network and was founded by early victims of it themselves. Simone was not hired, but born into her work. Her boss is her mother, who, like many others, was also once delivered tied up in the back of a livestock van and sold to a known Eastern European politician. The whole rather dysfunctional family seem to be involved one way or another, with questionable links to the wrong side. Simone is a complicated character, emotionally wired free spirit with severe anxiety disorder and inability to stay put in one place for too long. Political events are heating up and some nasty individuals are planning to replenish their stock with fresh deliveries of young vulnerable girls from newly emerging deprived war zones in Ukraine. Simone excels in her last mission and gets very close to one of the human trafficking mafia's key players. However, her cover is blown and now the whole organization as well as new vulnerable victims are in serious danger. Dimitri is faced with some tormenting decisions to make. Everyone has run out of their human error allowances.
