Malcolm Thick is an historian of agriculture and gardening, concentrating in the main on vegetables and their cultivation and consumption in the early modern period. He contributed a chapter to the relevant volume of The Agrarian History of England, and has written or edited on market gardening in early-modern London, The Country Housewife's Family Companion by William Ellis (1750), William Lawson's New Orchard and Garden (1618), as well as many scholarly articles.
