Read, MBChB, BMedSci, MRCP, MD, FRCP, is a Professor of Infectious Diseases, University of Sheffield Medical School, UK, and the Honorary Consultant Physician for Sheffield University Hospitals. Apart from heading the Academic Unit of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease in the Division of Genomic Medicine, Prof. Read also serves as the Professional Affairs Officer and Member of Executive at the European Society for Clinical Microbiology. His primary research interests are in the field of pathogenesis and prevention of pneumoccocal and meningiococcal diseases, while his works focus on the interaction of pathogens with host mucosal elements.
