Overview

The Singular Dualiity - two lives from one mind - is the cornerstone achievement of the revered philosophy of Phoenos on the planet Gemini. An almost metaphysical goal steeped in mystery and ancient legend, one soul is on the verge of achieving it. But after a lifetime of development, the Duals, or organic and bioduotron pair, falter at the brink. In an act of sui-homicide, one is accused of killing the other. In order to clear his name, Geminian-Terran hybrid Nimon, technical superintendent of the interstellar life crystal plant, Darwin, must find the true assailant. Aiding Nimon in this quest is the management team of the Darwin - Life Crystal Plant Manager Morgan Descartes, his Personnel Manager, Jefferson Brown, and an alien historian, Helicon of Clio. Within the galaxy's ten star systems, corporations bent on profit control the course of civilizations, and nothing is more profitable than the manufacture of life crystals. Though not at the level of sophistication sought by Geminians seeking Phoenos, the Solar Corporation has developed the technology of bioduogenetics. By using life crystal polymerization, specially designed humanoid constructs are empowered by humans projecting their consciousness across great distances in order to perform high risk duties. Critical to the future of Gemini, the Solar Corporation, and continued peace within the star systems is Solar Executive Novas, who, with her husband, Dr. Nicholas Edison, gave birth to the science of bioduogenetics. They must combat a long hidden movement, the K'Tar, which is prepared to rend asunder all that Gemini and the followers of Phoenos hold dear. To succeed, they must overcome a sinister leader at the heart of that movement, whose origin is inseparably linked to the creation of the first Singular Dualiity.
