Overview

The Quran was revealed to Muhammad the Prophet in Arabic. This is a translation/interpretation of the entire Arabic Quran. Translations and Interpretations of the Quran are central to our religious tradition so I call it Islamic Scripture. After experiencing the art of scripture singing in foreign languages while living in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, I began singing scripture in my first language of English. This has been one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done. My single piece of advice about singing scripture is to sing the verses as beautifully as you possibly can. If you can remember to do this, everything else will miraculously fall into place. Beauty is in the eye and hear of the beholder. So if you sing in a way that you feel is beautiful, you will have an unimaginably positive experience each time you read scripture. This is a wonderful book to begin the journey of singing scripture because it only includes verses that are easy to read, feel, and understand. Also the book is light enough to carry outdoors or to hold while curled up in bed. Enjoy and Peace be upon you.
