It also shows the horribleness of slavery and Jim Crow that left its mark on the civilization in our nation that still views whites as superior and blacks as inferior. The book gives the sad details of the effects of slavery and jim crow. It talks about the learned prejudices of children as they grow up in our nation by what they observe and hear from their parents and other whites. We also look at how we can correct this problem if we choose to. The problem is that nobody wants to admit they are wrong, so when there is no recognition of wrong there will be no repentance.
