Gardner is a consulting engineer active in electronics and communications. He is the principal of Gardner Research Company, a Fellow of the IEEE, a registered professional engineer in California, and the author of Phaselock Techniques, Second Edition. John D. Baker worked for many years as a software engineer in communications, signal processing, and simulation. Currently, he is at a university, applying his knowledge of technology to the teaching of mathematics. The authors have been working together on simulation programs since 1980.
