Overview

Simon of New Orleans is a celebration of the exuberant, sumptuous, energetic work of the Artist synonymous with his adopted hometown. It's difficult to wander around New Orleans without stumbling across the explosions of color and whimsy that are the trademarks of a Simon piece. In fact, the scope of his work is unparalleled. Private collectors snap up pieces as soon as the paint is dry. Simon has endeared himself to locals and tourists alike, and they have responded to the unpretentious wit that is the hallmark of his art.

A magna cum laude graduate of Tulane University, Perret has taught math and English for twenty-five years in New Orleans high schools, most recently at Isidore Newman School. Perret has written for numerous publications, including USA Today, The New Orleans Times-Picayune, Gambit, New Orleans Magazine, and Disney's FamilyFun. She was also an the editor of The New Orleans Wedding Guide. Her popular book, Yat Wit: Chicken Gumbo for the New Orleans Soul, continues to tickle the funny bones and warm the hearts of grown-up New Orleanians. A member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrations, Perret and her husband Paul reside in Metairie, Louisiana. Paul Perret often turns his lens to his hometown of New Orleans and the people who make the city unique. Ever seeking a new point of view, he brings a fresh perspective to a wide range of subjects.
