Author Information

Randy Turner is a retired English teacher and longtime newspaper reporter and journalist, who received regional, state, and national awards for investigative journalism. He frequently writes about educational issues for the Huffington Post and has written about education and politics for Daily Kos. He is the co-author of two books on the Joplin Tornado, 5:41: Stories from the Joplin Tornado and Spirit of Hope: The Year After the Joplin Tornado, and the author of Scars from the Tornado: One Year at Joplin East Middle School. He has also written a collection of essays on education, Let Teachers Teach, and three novels, No Child Left Alive, Devil's Messenger, and Small Town News.
