EDITORIAL REVIEW: Silent Partner is a cautionary tale of greed run amok. It is full of intrigue, suspense, deceit, violence, and drugs-all of it cloaked in an enigma of international crime, espionage, and black operations. A twist of fate propels Logan Van Hoehn III, into the desperate world of drug smugglers, money launderers, and spies. Set in the early to mid-'90s, he becomes the unwitting accomplice and target of nearly every American intelligence/law enforcement organization in the alphabet, (CIA, DEA, FBI, NSA). Only a twist of fate will free him from the danger toward which he is plunging headlong. In the end, Logan must choose his path. Will it be the hard path of righteousness or the easy path of money, drugs, deceit, and ultimately, destruction? If you like aviation, specifically military aviation, you will love this book. Logan, our bold, though reluctant hero, is an adversary pilot in the US Naval Reserve. He is a combat veteran and a Top Gun graduate. His experiences in life will serve him well as he navigates the quagmire of deception that he has inadvertently helped to create. Logan is ultimately the happy idiot that winds up dealing with desperate criminals and running from the law. He is not unintelligent. At times readers will marvel at Logan's brilliance, and at other times, his sheer stupidity. You will be left breathless by his near-simultaneous gallantry and childlike naivete. In his simplicity lies his charm. You will fall in love with this character and find yourself cheering his successes and lamenting his failures. In his debut novel, Max Cioux has created a bevy of exciting and complex characters. His diligent research into the world of Pablo Escobar and his ilk has created a detailed tapestry with the darkest undertones. Silent Partner is an inaugural event and the launch of a master storyteller. It is a must read for 2020 and beyond.

Author Information

Max Cioux (Pronounced Max Q) is a former Naval Aviator, and a 1993 graduate of the Naval Fighter Weapons School, more commonly known as TOP GUN. He spent thirteen years in the Navy, and during that time, Max had the good fortune of associating with real heroes. He interacted with members of both the CIA and FBI, and his experiences in the Fleet, as well as those in Fallon, Nevada, Japan, and San Diego, California, gave him rare insight into the inner workings of these entities during that time. Though Max Cioux's Naval career ended in 1998, his love for all things aviation, as well as his interest in the United States Military, remains as strong as ever. It was his love of flying-like Blixen's description of flight in her memoir Out of Africa-that first fueled his need to write. His passions are wide and disparate. They include fishing, biking, brewing beer, and scuba diving, though his chief hobbies remain reading and writing. Max resides in Iowa with his wife and children.
