Silence of the Clams: An Ocean Adventure About Friendship, Courage, and Finding Your Voice

Overview

Silence of the Clams is a laugh-out-loud undersea adventure for young readers who know what it's like to feel a little shy - and want to find the courage to shine. Meet Lucy, Hazel, and Finn, three bashful clams who spend their days tucked inside their shells whispering, ""Don't rock the boat!"" But when a hungry shark appears and their ocean friends are in trouble, these quiet little clams must dig deep to find their voices and their bravery. With clever wordplay, hilarious sea creatures, and a heartwarming message about friendship, confidence, and being true to yourself, this beautifully illustrated picture book is perfect for storytime, bedtime, or anytime kids need a little courage boost. Perfect for ages 3-7, especially shy kids or those learning to express themselves in new social situations. A gentle story with a big splash of humor - and an even bigger heart.

Author Information

Dr White is a clinical psychologist with many years of experience working with children. One of his interests has been in helping children who lack confidence to do things they can do, but worry they will not succeed. This book is intended as a story about young clams who strive to overcome their shyness and quiet reticence, and succeed in doing so. Inspired by the imaginative stories written by his son, Connor White, and daughter-in-law, Annabeth Bondor Stone, this is Dr White's first children's book. When he isn't working, he enjoys playing the piano (when no one is listening!) and visiting his grandchildren (7, 5, 1), whose namesakes are those of the clams in this book.
