Sikhism: And Spirituality

Overview

Sikh Faith originated in Punjab (now in Pakistan) with the advent of Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak was a divine teacher who had a revelation from God to preach his divine message. He believed in one God, who is the God of all living beings. God is responsible for all the creation in the universe, which is infinite, and controls it by His Will. We are all His children and equal. He lives within His creation as a soul, a part of Himself. He is beyond death and is not born either. We can see and meet Him with His Grace. The thinking process of the mind is controlled by Maya (worldly desires). The job of Maya is to make you forget God, produce duality and doubts to become attached to His physical world. Spirituality is a state of our mind being with its true self, the soul or God. Mind of a worldly man is always absorbed in these thoughts which keep it tied to the thoughts of the physical world. Your thoughts and actions direct you to truthfulness, service to others and meditation on the Naam of God... Meditation on Naam Japna or repeatedly saying Wahe Guru (Praise Guru). The mind contacts the Naam, the divine elixir. It is the silent word of God which one gets in sunn that takes one to tranquil state (sehaj ghar). You are fully awake and never born again, but have to spend the rest of this life on Earth after which you live with God. This book is meant to help understand the relationship of a human being with God who sent him to this world to fight against worldly desires that make him forget about God. Through the interpretation of Sikh scriptures, this book provides you with practical ways of meditation to be one with God and to live in peace with Him forever.
