Author Information

James P. Whalen is an experienced criminal attorney who graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1995. After being admitted to the Texas State Bar, he began practicing in federal courts throughout the state, and was admitted to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Criminal Law, Whalen has made a number of appearances on local television and Court TV as an expert commentator. He's represented clients charged with everything from simple misdemeanors to capital murder-and is proud to say he has never prosecuted anyone. Whalen has been named a Super Lawyer on six different occasions, is a former president of the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, previously served as a board member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and is a current member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
