OverviewThe station doesn't think it's dying. That's the first thing you notice when you walk in. The microphones still work. The transmitter still hums. The hosts still show up, still talk, still argue, still laugh at jokes that no longer land. The owner blames streaming, or kids, or algorithms, or ""the way things are now."" Everyone agrees the problem is outside the building. It almost never is. Each episode begins inside a radio station that is financially struggling, culturally fractured, or slowly being ignored by the audience it once mattered to. Sometimes it's an AM talk station whose listeners have aged out of relevance. Sometimes it's a classic rock FM frozen in 2004. Sometimes it's a college station confusing freedom with structurelessness, or a community station that forgot the community, or a small-market commercial outlet quietly drowning under consolidation and exhaustion. The format doesn't matter. The signal does.
