Overview

Il conte di Tirolo Sigismondo d'Austria, detto il Danaroso, riceve in feudo il castello, eretto in un posto insediato dalla prima eta del ferro. Il castello, documentato la prima volta nel 945, rappresenta con la cappella di San Biagio la struttura piu antica di un castello tirolese preservatasi fino ai giorni nostri. Sigismondo ampliava il castello dal 1473 in una fortezza moderna, per la quale non sono ancora trovati ne modelli architettonici ne fonti storici.
